PROJECTS REALISED IN THE YEAR 2009
The Missionary Movement is enlarging three homes in the state of Maranhao. A collection was held to fund the one in Sao Matheus de Maranhao. Poverty has grown in these areas so we had no choice but to enlarge our homes so that the children will have at least some teaching and a daily meal.
Another
reform we undertook is in the enlargment of classes in the small town in an
island of Km 17. A home run by nuns from Portugal.
Work
is going on in another home called St. Theresa of Avila in the city of Sao Luis,
Maranhao, so that the home will be able to accept children of families with
leprosy.
We continued with the building of homes in the city of Ambo, dioceses of Nekemte. We are offering these homes to families of lepers that are presently scattered all over the city or worse still, living in the cemetery. Their life in the cemetery is one without dignity and it really moves one to pity.
The Missionary Movement could not remain indifferent in the face of such a pitiful situation. For this reason we decided to keep on removing entire families from this place. For this reason we are still building new homes.
In Ambo town we also constructed a multi-purpose hall for feeding programs and education.
In the dioceses of Nekemte, more projects were blessed by Mons. George Grima, in the town of Nekemte.
In the town of Babiche, two water springs were developed.
In the town of Pawe, we almost finished the construction of an eye clinic, run by Indian sisters.
In the month of February, in the village of Qabdu, Mons George Grima blessed a new kindergarden, used for both feeding and education purposes.
DAY CENTERS: We are building day centers in the dioceses of Jimma. Seven new homes were built in the villages in this new dioceses so that poor children who never went to school could take their first steps in learning and also receive a hot meal daily. These homes are being run by the priests of St. Vincent de Paul together with the Movement ''Jesus in Thy Neighbour" who see to all the expenses.
Another kindergarden was blessed in the village of Shara.
Another kindergarden and a hall were blessed in the town of Eman.
BORE-
HOLES: In the diocese of Gambela, we managed to inaugurate 4 bore-holes,
Niko, Shebo, Pukong, and Nyingnang.
In the village of Ado Pimoli, the Divine Mercy day centre was also inaugurated.

NEW HALL: A new hall was built in the Vicariate of Awassa. The Missionary Movement has started to be involved for the first time together with the nuns 'Helpers of Mary', who arrived from India. Presently we are in the process of building a Hall which will serve as a Day Center for children and also another hall that will house children that are very weak because of lack of food. We have to shelter these hundreds of children and also provide them with food and above all a lot of love.
A new orphanage named ‘Infant Baby Jesus of Prague’, and a convent for nuns in the diocese of Nakuru. This orphanage is only for orphan babies. We hope that soon we will accept about one hundred boys and girls. Recently, a group from Malta went to do volontary work to help complete this orphanage. Apart from this building, a convent was built for a group of nuns who came from India at the invitation of Fr. George Grima. These were blessed by Bishop Philip Anyolo of the diocese of Homa Bay who is the apostolic administrator of the diocese of Nakuru.
Another Hall was built for providing food in the city of Lorwatum for the Patok tribe. People who really suffered all through 2009. Without water, without light and great shortage of food. The Missionary Movement decided to start helping in this place and apart from the food project that already exists for some years we are preparing to start the second project in the town of Lowratum, diocese of Nakuru.
BORE-HOLE: A bore-hole was built in the diocese of Kisumu in the village of Nyamonge, and there is a plan to build a new orphanage for children who lost their parents. This is another dream, that, with God's blessing, has already started to materialise as we have already bought the land where we plan to build this home.
OTHER DORMITORIES: We are building other dormitories in the home 'The Holy Family of Nazareth' in the diocese of Kisumu in the town of Bondo. We have already finished the first two dormitories and also the kitchen and the refectory. The building of three dormitories has started which will welcome blind and albino children.
REFURBISHMENT:
We are refurbishing a school and a dormitory in the 'St. Anthony Home' in the
doicese of Bungoma. This house welcomes in it deaf and dumb children who also
sleep in the home.
